Wellness & Lifestyles is fully equipped to service clients in the community or aged care facilities who are on Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plans using our bulk-billing software Pracsoft.
Medicare benefits are available for a range of specified allied health services for certain patients. To receive allied health services patients must be referred by a medical practitioner (including general practitioner, specialist or consultant physician). Patients who have a chronic medical condition and complex care needs may be eligible for up to 5 individual allied health services. Patients who have Type 2 Diabetes may be eligible for one individual assessment and up to 8 group sessions. Patients with an assessed mental disorder may be eligible for 12 individual services and up to 12 group therapy services.
All Wellness & Lifestyles allied health professionals have Medicare provider numbers and are eligible to provide services under Medicare.
Wellness & Lifestyles now also has Medical Director software which allows for electronic referrals from GPs.
Individual allied health services
As previously mentioned, Medicare benefits are available for certain services provided by eligible allied health professionals to people with chronic conditions and complex care needs who are being managed by a GP under an Enhanced Primary Care (EPC) Plan. The allied health services must be recommended in the patient’s EPC plan as part of the management of their chronic condition.
The following group of W&L allied health professionals are eligible to provide individual services under Medicare for patients with a chronic condition and complex care needs:
- Physiotherapists
- Podiatrists
- Speech Pathologists
- Dietitians
- Occupational Therapists
- Exercise Physiologists
- Diabetic Educators
Medicare benefits are available for up to 5 allied health services per eligible patient (those on an Enhanced Primary Care Plan), per calendar year. Please contact our office or your GP for more information.
Group allied health services
Medicare benefits are available for allied health group services for patients with type 2 diabetes. These items apply to services provided by eligible diabetes educators, exercise physiologists and dietitians, on referral from a GP.
